  • Wednesday, October 29–Opportunities for Children’s Authors, a presentation by Klett Publishers. 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 30The Our Town Books/Jacksonville Public Library Book Club meets at Our Town Books at 7:00 p.m. We will be discussing The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Everyone is welcome.
  • Saturday, November 1–Author Bev Johns will be signing copies of her first mystery novel, Secrets of the Teachers’ Lounge at 3:00 p.m.
  •  Saturday Morning Story Time–Celebrate autumn with stories and crafts about colorful autumn leaves. 10:30 a.m. 
  • Thursday, November 6–Robert Seufert, professor emeritus of English at MacMurray College, will be reading selections from his four newly published chapbooks: Rooting and Other Poems; Gaia and Other Musings; The Voyage; and The Deep One and Other Stories. 7:00 p.m.

The Our Town Books/Jacksonville Public Library Poetry Group (which would ordinarily meet at the Jacksonville Public Library on this date) will attend Dr. Seufert’s reading at Our Town Books.

  • Friday, November 7–Book Launch Party and Book Signing at the Gallery Hop. Valerie and Gwenn Eyer present Valerie’s book Why Did We Have to Say Goodbye? Valerie’s Story. 5:00-7:00 p.m Illustrator, Sharon Coker and Designer, Steve Varble will join them.
  •  Saturday, November 8–Saturday Morning Story Time–Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano and a Thanksgiving craft. 10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, November 15–Eli Goodman, MD, will be signing his recently published children’s book, The White Horse.  10:30 a.m.

  • Wednesday, November 19–The Our Town Books/Jacksonville Public Library Poetry Group meets at 7:00 p.m. at Our Town Books. All are welcome.
  •  Saturday, November 22–Saturday Morning Story Time–Books about Turkeys and Thanksgiving! 10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, November 29–We will open at 9:00 a.m. for Small Business Saturday. All Christmas books and toys 15% off. Refreshments.

  • Thursday, December 4–The Our Town Books/Jacksonville Public Library Book Club meets at the Jacksonville Public Library at 7:00 p.m. We will be discussing The Unmaking of the Middle East: A History of Western Disorder in Arab Lands by Jeremy Salt (2009). All are welcome.

✏The Poetry Group will meet at the Jacksonville Public Library at 7:00 p.m.

  • Friday, December 5–Illinois author and reporter Taylor Pensoneau will be signing his latest book, Reporting on Life–and people along the way, a look back at Illinois politics and politicians. Join him at the Gallery Hop from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  •  Saturday, December 6–Special Saturday Morning Story Time–Kids’ Make and Take Toy Workshop with Chad Boehlke. 10:30 a.m
  •  Saturday, December 20–Meet Santa’s little brother, Hugo Kringle (aka Mike Anderson), at Saturday Story Time. Christmas songs and stories. A fun, interactive Christmas show that doesn’t involve “What I want for Christmas.” Free. All ages welcome. 10:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, December 24–We will close at 2:00 P.M.
